Know your rights under EU261

EU Regulation 261/2004 is one of the strongest passenger protection laws in the world. Here's what you're entitled to.

€250

Flights under 1,500 km delayed 3+ hours or cancelled

€400

Flights 1,500–3,500 km delayed 3+ hours or cancelled

€600

Flights over 3,500 km delayed 4+ hours or cancelled

What qualifies?

  • Flight delayed by 3 or more hours at arrival
  • Flight cancelled with less than 14 days notice
  • Denied boarding due to overbooking
  • Missed connection caused by the airline
  • Downgraded to a lower class of travel

Compensation may be reduced by 50% if the airline offers re-routing and you arrive within a reasonable time. Extraordinary circumstances (severe weather, air traffic control strikes) may exempt the airline.
